Pediatric  Nose & Sinus Care in Covington, LA (St. Tammany Parish)

If your child has constant congestion, frequent runny noses, mouth breathing, or recurring nosebleeds, it can affect sleep, school, and daily comfort. At Kathy Chauvin, MD (ENT), we help families get to the root cause of nasal symptoms and create a plan that actually works without over treating.

Parents can schedule directly (no referral needed). Referrals are always welcome.

When to See a Pediatric ENT for Nose Concerns

Consider an ENT evaluation if your child has:

  • Chronic nasal congestion or a runny nose that doesn’t improve

  • Frequent sinus-like symptoms (pressure, thick mucus, persistent cough from drainage)

  • Mouth breathing (especially at night)

  • Snoring or restless sleep related to congestion

  • Recurrent nosebleeds

  • Concern for nasal allergies

  • A foreign object in the nose (common in toddlers and young children)

If you’re not sure whether it’s allergies, a lingering infection, or something structural, we can help clarify quickly.

Common Ear Conditions We Evaluate & Treat

Chronic Congestion & Runny Nose

Some kids are “always stuffy.” Congestion can be caused by allergies, frequent viral illnesses, irritation, or enlarged adenoids behind the nose. We evaluate what’s driving symptoms and recommend a practical plan based on your child’s age and pattern of symptoms.

Nasal Allergies

Allergies can look like constant sniffles, congestion, throat clearing, and post-nasal drip. If allergies may be contributing, we can discuss testing and treatment options, including long-term management strategies.

Recurrent Nosebleeds

Nosebleeds in children are common and often related to dryness or irritated blood vessels inside the nose. If nosebleeds are frequent or disruptive, we can evaluate the cause and discuss treatment options.

Sinus Symptoms / Post-Nasal Drip

Persistent drainage can lead to nighttime coughing, sore throat, and ongoing congestion. We look at the full picture—duration, triggers, severity, and response to prior treatments—to decide whether observation, medical treatment, or further evaluation makes the most sense.

Foreign Body in the Nose

Kids are fast. If you suspect your child put something in their nose, we can evaluate and remove it safely and quickly when appropriate.

Nose Services & In-Office Care

Depending on what your child needs, we may provide:

  • Evaluation and treatment for acute respiratory infections affecting the nose

  • Nosebleed (nasal) cauterization when indicated

  • Foreign body removal (nose)

  • Cultures & sensitivities when needed (for persistent drainage or infection concerns)

  • Allergy care (when indicated): allergy testing and allergy shots

How We Evaluate Nose Concerns

Your visit typically includes:

  • A thorough symptom history (how long, how often, triggers, sleep impact)

  • A gentle nasal exam

  • Discussion of likely causes (allergies vs infection vs irritation vs adenoids)

  • A clear plan and follow-up timeline
